Make a sale in 15 days with only $100 budget

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

There is a contest going that because it is Sunday and the NFL is still in preseason I figured I would take a few minutes to compete in. My goal is two fold - to win a free copy of this new product and the topic is one that will create quality content here for you my reader.

*Caveat - I will be linking to their promotion blog but have not seen or reviewed this product so I am not making a recommendation or using an affiliate link. I am also not interested in the $5 payment for creating a track back. This is being done because whether I win or not it will add good content to the blog.

If you were to start from scratch with NO list, NO JV partners in your niche, and all you have is $100 capital, what would you do to start making sales for your niche membership site within just 15 days?”

My first step would be to open Free Mind and chart my course by mapping out what I need to accomplish.

niche

The budget

  1. Autoresponder - Aweber would be my choice and would cost about $20
  2. Domain - Can be purchased for $10 or less
  3. Hosting - Zoot Host you can get plenty for less than $10 a month
  4. Article Writing - 5 articles at $10 each (you can pay more or less but that is what I normally pay except for very specialized topics)
  5. Article Submission - Isnare will cost you $10 for 5 article submissions

The process

Keyword research - Finding the right keywords is the key to profitability and recommend that you check out the 30 Day Challenge for some of the best free training available.

Give away idea - Would use an e-course only because of the budget and time frame. Normally I would create an e-book, audio or video for this with a quality graphic but not with this time frame and budget.

Order articles - This would be based on the keyword research and the topic that would be used for my giveaway e-course. Will be reusing content extensively on this project (and I usually do reuse the content.)

Set up Hosting and get a domain name - Now that I have the keyword research from which I expect to get my traffic I would use a keyword rich domain name and get it set up.

Create squeeze page and set up may autoresponder - Will use the articles as a base for my autoresponder series. If you are not familiar and comfortable with HTML would go get a free web site editor.

Submit my articles - Use Isnare to submit the 5 articles to the various directories with a signature file leading back to my squeeze page.

Set up a Wordpress blog on the domain - This will be in a folder behind the squeeze page and the folder will be named for my main keyword from my research. Use the content from rewriting the articles in smaller pieces to create 15 blog posts targeting my main keywords with each post. Add a slide in from my autoresponder account that will show on each post to give away my e-course.

Create the traffic net - Use the article content to create 3-5 Squidoo lenses, Hub Pages and Wet Paint Wiki for my top keywords. Add the RSS feed of my main blog to each of these.

Create a WordPress.com and a Blogger blog for a quick back link to the new blog. If you have sufficient time you can rewrite some of the articles to add a couple other posts that will link to your squeeze page.

You can also start a bookmarking campaign to all parts of the traffic net and the article sites that your article shows up on.

This is a real down and dirty routine and you can get a lot more detail if you grab the “Build Your Business Series” by signing up for the updates here.

This blog post is for an entry for the ‘Power Memberships’ Pre-Launch Contest. Check out how you can win for yourself a $11,000/month PLR membership at http://contest.powermemberships.com/pre-launch-contest/

As always your comments and questions are welcomed.

Blogs, Squids, Hubs, Faces, and Bums - Repurposing content

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Interesting title to say the least and probably a bit confusing. Could have just called it using and repurposing content I guess but it wouldn’t be as much fun or curiosity arousing.

To the search engines content is king. PERIOD.

You can generate a lot of very targeted free traffic using content. Now I did not use quotes around free this time on purpose. That is because using content although it does take time it can continue to drive traffic day after day after day from the one effort.

Yep not quite free but definitely something that can have great leverage.

Lets be clear this will be an overview of these topics. After all I have another blog that just answers questions on one little piece of this puzzle (WordPress) 3-5 times a week and has for a couple years.

Using content is probably the best way to generate traffic on a continuing basis. This may seem a bit overwhelming at first but..

Do one thing at a time and it will grow for you.

Before I start I am going to make an extremely strong recommendation. Get and apply Marlon Sander’s Evergreen Traffic. He paired with the Queen of Free Traffic - Tinu and it is my number one recommendation for anyone that is going to use the various Web2.0 resources.

First you need to have done some good keyword research. That has been covered in depth previously.

All of these pieces are going to link to your squeeze page which is the start of your system. (You do have a squeeze page, right ;) ?

Personally I like to start with a WordPress blog on a domain that I own. They are easy to get set up right and that is right behind the squeeze page as the center of the web I am going to create.

Everything on that blog will push people to the squeeze page.

In addition I will use a variety of free services to create a network that will help promote that blog and ultimately the squeeze page. I did a good article as a guest blogger about it at Using Free Resources To Increase Your Blogs Traffic.

Doing this is not exactly rocket science and you can use the same content in multiple ways. Lets take an example. You create and /or purchase a solid content article of 1000 words. (We are not talking PLR here but if you are a decent rewriter that would work too.)

The reason I like a long article is that I can split it into pieces.

First take the beginning and bring it to a conclusion and use it to submit to various article directories. Personally, I like to use Isnare and pay them to submit it. At $2 or less an article the time savings is huge and the results are multiplied.

Use the signature file to send people to part 2 (the balance of the article) on your blog. This is a tip I picked up from John Taylor and it works very well.

Rewriting a small piece of it and it to the Squidoo lens you are using to promote your blog and squeeze page. Rewrite a different section and add it to your Hub page that is doing the same.

Post on your free blogs about the great article you found at one of the directories on your topic. (Yours of course and to the second part on your blog.)

Add your blog’s RSS feed into your Facebook profile and other social sites that allow it.

Take the original article you submitted and rewrite pieces to target specific keywords on your blog.

Want to take it up a notch go get a free piece of software called Audacity and read your article and add it as a podcast to your blog with Pod Press.

Now lets count how many things you created off of one long article.

  • An article submission
  • 3-4 blog posts
  • addition to your Squidoo lens
  • addition to your Hub Page
  • links form the various free blogging sources

As you can see if you repurpose content you can use it many times over. Get enough of these articles and you can create a free report or even an ebook product to give away or sell. This can be a great unique product if you participate in Giveaway promotions.

Buy the original from someone that writes well and you can literally only spend an hour or two a week to keep adding traffic to your system. If your system is properly functioning you can afford to buy this content and turn a profit. I have added a mind map below to show the process. Sometimes pictures are more valuable than words.

repurpose

The ultimate goal is to have someone do all of these steps for you and still turn a profit. You want to try from the very beginning to pull you out of the work flow asap. When you are profitable you can pay to have these steps done. This will allow you to easily add more and more little income streams.

As always your questions and comments are welcomed.

Squidoo - How are you using it?

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

More and more my partner and I are using Squidoo for a lot more than just back linking and pre selling affiliate products. It works even better for micro sites for off line businesses.

Paul just created a lens about Automotive Micro Sites. You can use a lens rather than pay the high prices that some of the micro site sellers are charging. They are much easier to get ranking higher because they are part of Squidoo rather than a new domain.

Now this works for him to sell cars but you can also use this for any high ticket sale if you structure it for your area and your business.

Creating these types of sites can be very profitable if you are working with any type of high ticket sales business that is off line. Just to name a few - real estate brokers, mortgage brokers, mobile home sales, boat sales, etc.

If you have built up skills in the internet marketing field you can easily transfer these to help some of these off line businesses quite profitably.

Want to understand more about using Squidoo?

Check out Bob Jenkin’s Squidoo Secrets 2.0. You can get started for free but you really should consider the upgrade as the skills he will help with will improve your usage of this great tool.

Let me know by leaving your comments how you have uised Squidoo effectively for your business whether it is on or off line.

Free tools to help you get started and more

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Have been lax here with the Week In Review because of projects I am working on. I thought it would be a good idea to review some of the better free offers that I feel supply good value. There are tons of them around but these are ones that I feel give you great value for the free offer and break down some of the barriers that stop you from succeeding.

Now being a believer that there is no such thing as a FREE LUNCH there is always a marketing reason behind someone giving you something for free. Look at the free offers and think about the process each uses. Starting to pay attention to how these are constructed will start you towards thing like a marketer. A necessary skill to succeed. Most will have an up sell or one time offer and if it is something you need and fits your business these can be quite valuable and are usually a great deal for you.

Email Promos Exposed - Email marketing is the key to the vault for everyone working online and Michael Rasmussen has some great content here that walks you step by step through how to do it effectively.

Free Website Creator - A very good HTML editor for getting your pages on line easily. This will allow you to overcome one of the major hurdles most people face in getting started.

Instant Squeeze Page Generator - Creating squeeze pages is one of the items that stop people from starting their list. This will allow you to create a squeeze page in a point and click fashion. I even have a video on using this on You Tube so you can see how easy it is.

Squidoo Secrets - Bob Jenkins is one of my mentors for using this great service. The free audio walks you through the basics but you really need to look at his upgrade on this one.

Discover Cpanel - Most good web hosts use Cpanel and the learning curve can be steep. These are great step by step videos that take a frustrating item and make it easy to understand.

MyCCBlog - A great free blog service that will allow you to have a search engine friendly blog that will allow you to start generating free traffic.

Videos For Beginners - 12 free videos that will allow you to watch exactly how to do some of the tasks that you know you need to do but don’t know where to start.

That’s all of the free items for today but if you are already marketing on line, have a website or a blog here is something you really need to consider.

Marlon Sanders found one of my early mentors who had disappeared from the web due to health problems. Tinu tried to retire but had a problem. She could not stop the traffic she was getting. Even after doing nothing for a year she had sites that were getting over 3000 hits a day. That was not a typo either it is three thousand.

Check out Evergreen Traffic System and discover how you can duplicate her methods for yourself. I am and have already seen a 10% increase in traffic on the one site I have applied just one of the techniques to 3 days ago.

It’s back and even better

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

If you’ve been online for more than a month, you’ve probably been hearing about Web 2.0 and perhaps you’ve already seen Squidoo.

At one point, the best site to learn from about Squidoo was a site called Squidoo Secrets.

It helped over 13,000 people get started with Squidoo, including me, many of whom put into action Bob The Teacher’s lessons correctly, continued to work on their lenses, and saw great results.

Unfortunately, with all the changes at Squidoo since last summer, the site became a bit out of date.

To be honest, I was disappointed.

But, now I’m excited to tell you that Bob’s back - and Squidoo Secrets is better than ever!

Recently, Bob held a live, virtual workshop with about 40 people who learned how to use Squidoo from Step 1.

Bob taught them via online webinar, using his screen and his professional teaching skills to deliver an awesome workshop.

(I wish I could have been there, too!)

The good news for you and me is he recorded all 8 sessions of the workshop, and he’s just released them for you and me to learn from.

It’s Squidoo Secrets 2.0, and it’s impressed me so much I had to write about it and recommend it here.

==> Squidoo Secrets

Bob offers three courses of study, and the first one (the Apprentice) is free so you can test out if Bob delivers like so many others say he does.

I know this will help you, and I expect to see your results on Squidoo very soon!

Mike Paetzold

p.s. Yes, Bob will offer a more advanced course on Squidoo that I highly recommend.

In addition to the e-course and initial, in-depth lesson you receive with the free program, the Kraken Hunter and Super Kraken memberships gives you a comprehensive set of videos, audios, and print resources to learn everything faster.

And by everything - I’m not exaggerating!

Squidoo Secrets 2 - WOW!!!!!

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Just got access to the new Squidoo Secrets 2 from Bob Jenkins. Now I have always liked Bob’s teaching style and strongly recommended his original Squidoo Secrets.

The various tweaks I have learned from him have continued to help me drive traffic, get subscribers and make sales from my lenses.

You really need to check it out and the upgrade is something to really consider. I grabbed it and that is why I said WOW!!!! in the title.

You can check out his video below.

Week In Review - April 12, 2008

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

Lots going on this week and even more for next week.

This week I have added a couple videos about WordPress 2.5 over at WordPress Made Easy. There will be a series of blog posts starting on Monday there about profitable blogging. You won’t want to miss these.

I have posted about resell rights and how to use them this week. Liz Tomey just released My Original E Products yesterday and there may still be a few packages left but no promises as she limits it to just 500. (One of the things you need to look at when buying resell rights products.)

I have a bonus for those that purchase through my link - a 30 minute consultation on any topic that is keeping you from amking money with this package. Just send a copy of your receipt to my help desk at www.askmikepaetzold.com.

Finally the podcast at Amplification Marketing News this week amplifies Squidoo. Check it out.

Rather than a blast from the past I wanted to make sure that you haven’t missed this. Randy Pausch is a professor at Carnegie Mellon University that is dying of pancreatic cancer.

This is his “Last Lecture” from there and it has some great rules to live by. It is a bit over an hour and I have watched it more than once. The rules for living as a Tigger and not an Eeyore along with his reasoning about brick walls is not to be missed.

I first saw this a few months back and ABC had a special about him this week which has brought this back into the news. Take the time to watch it or grab the book - Last Lecture.

As always your comments are welcomed.

Have a great week.
