It has been a busy and frustrating week at the same time for me. A virus raised havoc with both of my machines despite all the various protection I use and ended up spending more time on maintenance then I had planned to.

That set me a bit behind most of the week but it is all good and just part of dealing with things online. That was the bad part of the week.

The good part was that I still got quite a bit done although not as much as I would have liked to. Got a nice comment on the seminar I do every Thursday at Get Referrals Fast which always makes the time and effort worthwhile.

Finally got to see Marlon Sanders new product The Traffic Dashboard. Got mine right away and loving it.

Not as many PLR releases this week but some really good ones this week. The Facebook, Social Media and GetResponse reports all look very interesting for the right person. Did get a chance to add a case study on using these types of products to the PLR blog.

So all in all it has been a good week. Now off to what is new on the blogs.

Do Private Label Rights Get A Bad Rap?

Private label rights can be like a coin flip. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It is because of two reasons that people either love PLR or hate it. Often it is because of the quality they received or they think that private label rights means no work.

The first part may be very true if you don’t find quality PLR. There is a lot of crap being sold as PLR. That is one of the reason I started a blog just to highlight quality PLR vendors that I use.

If you get quality PLR when you start then your job becomes easier. There are a number of quality vendors out there. Some of my favorites are…

Rosie Cottis at Flamillion PLR

And there are quite a few others featured at The PLR Secrets blog along with announcements of their latest releases.

If you start with quality PLR you can win much more easily if not you lose and complain.

That is only half of the solution to getting the most from PLR and becoming a raving fan (like I am) instead of complaining.

Here is the part where I lose a lot of people. You have to edit and adapt it. Yes, that dang 4 letter word WORK is coming into play once again.

Now it does not have to be hard and thanks to those that are still reading. I know I lost a few when I mentioned that W word.

PLR is a time saver but it is not a big red button.

Most PLR, even the best quality is written without personality. If it was you couldn’t use it unless your voice matched it. You need to do some editing to get your personality in it before you use it.

If it is an article, add you in it and use it for blog content or any other place you need content like your Squidoo lens, etc. I do not recommend you use it for article marketing unless you have completely rewritten the content. It will get denied by the better article directories.

If it is a report, take the time to personalize it to you. Edit it, add your own links and make it yours. Often I will take two or more and make a more complete report and do it in half the time it would take to do it on my own.

If you buy a PLR product then you need to do the same things. Add your personality to it, change up the sales letter, add your own bonuses, edit the graphics and make it yours.

So if you grab a lot of the crap that is out there you will be joining the crowd of people that complain about PLR, but if you grab quality and put a little effort into it, you will have found a great way to save time building your business.

Week In Review – January 22, 2011

Only one more week left in January and what have you accomplished so far this year? I have become quite adept at using the snow blower so far. Would prefer not to get so much practice time but that is not to be.

It must be winter in PA.

This week has seen a lot of new PLR releases. Seems like every time I turned around there was another one and that is only the ones from people that I know and trust their quality.

PLR has become a big topic but so many people don’t understand how to use it. That is why I got so excited when Jimmy D Brown released his PLR To Profits course this week.

Jimmy is one of the originators of PLR and he is one of only a handful of people that I always get much more from than what I spend.

Week In Review – January 15, 2011

Well another week in the books for 2011. Not exactly what I had planned for but that seems to be the way things are going of late.

Just back from Reading to drop off the nephew to his Mom’s so running late which has been more often than not so far this year.

I am getting back on track though so that is a good thing even if just a little bit behind. Today will be a catch up day as the Eagles lost last week so football no longer as big a priority there.

A lot of new quality PLR packages released this week though.

Feast or Famine – Usually one or the other

One of the things that always surprises me is how you can get week’s where there are very little new things to get excited about and then you find there are times when there is a plethora of opportunities.

The last 24 hours have been one of those feasts.

If you use or sell (your own or like me as an affiliate) PLR (private label rights) this has been a good time period.

Two of my favorite PLR vendors have released products in the last 24 hours that got me excited.

The first is a coaching course from Melissa Ingold. Now Melissa has created a couple of these and they are really totally complete.

The second one is a brand new PLR report on using PLR from Nicole Dean. Regular readers will know Nicole as she has visited here for a week on her Rockstar Blog Tour. She is one of my favorite PLR creators and the quality she puts out is among the best around.

This is a perfect giveaway for anyone looking to sell PLR products and is one that I grabbed immediately.

Finally in this same 24 hour period was something new that was unique and is a perfect example of how you can twist something people use all the time into a different type of item.

This is from Alice Seba and she titled this package “Get Your Kids to Eat Vegetables PLR Bundle “. This is a package of 4 recipe reports with images on different ways to sneak vegetables into your kid’s diet.

Something I know can be a real problem for some. Then you have other kid’s like my grand daughter who loves vegetables which is a real surprise. She may look and act in some ways like her father but he was one I could have used these recipes to get to eat veggies.

Well it is now 2011 and after a hiatus of a couple weeks for the holidays the Week In Review is back. Things are picking up as they usually do this time of year and it will be interesting to see what changes come about this year.

Hope that you are having a terrific start to the new year and are focused and ready to make 2011 your best year ever.

There have been some changes for the new year as the turtles are retiring from their blog and The Old Bald Guy has gone back to its roots.

Have been a bit behind in getting the latter going but the OBG will be back to what it was shortly. My chance to let the split personality really show.

Starting a new case study here on setting up a sales funnel and will be changing a few other things as the year continues.

Are you ready for 2011?

Well it is now the second day of 2011 and a new year is here. Are you ready?

I have spent quite a bit of time over the last week or so planning for the new year. Because of that I have not written as much here or on some of my other blogs but that changes today.

It may be Sunday but it is time to start applying the things that were planned for. After all it is the actions you take and COMPLETE that will make your plan work.

If you have not done your planning I recommend you go grab the Goals 2011 guide and do the steps. The report is free and won’t even cost you an email address but it does take work to do it. That action is what makes it valuable. If you just download it and read it and never do the work sheets you are wasting your time.

After that you need to start doing the things you lay out. Some of the things that I have on my mind map have already started,

The Old Bald Guy got a new old look yesterday and will be changing back to it’s roots. I know new old does not make any sense but the look is new and has gone back to the original logo and more importantly it will go back to the original idea with visits from the Evil Twin.

On The PLR Secrets I have added a resource to some great PLR eCourses so that you can easily get started list building. List building will continue to be a big emphasis for me and should be for you.

For me there will be an even bigger emphasis on traffic generation through more sources. One of the things I have found is that I am not using as many different sources as I should be. As things work I will be sharing them and will probably be guest blogging much more this year.

I have started my new year with a few actions but there are many more to come. So back to the original question “Are you ready for 2011?”

Week In Review – December 18, 2010

It has been a crazy week here to say the least. Was without an internet access from Tuesday morning until yesterday. Made for a goofy week to say the least. Working from their library made for very limited access.

The good part is it did allow me to get some things done here but it really messed up my plans for the week.

One week from Christmas today and two weeks until 2011.

The good part is that when you don’t have any interruptions from the usual things like email, Skype, etc. it is amazing how much you can do on various projects quickly.

Now off to a very abbreviated blogging list.
