What does it take to create an online business?

With the current economy there are lots of people looking for work or worried about their jobs or needing a way to increase their income. All of these have led to people looking at the internet as a possible solution.

Now there are a huge variety of ways to do this and unfortunately there are too many out there looking to promise the world to line their own pockets with your money.

Here is a way to build an online business that works and is sustainable.

You start with a blog and getting it set up with the proper plugins. You will need to link it into various Web 2.0 sites like Twitter, Squidoo, Hub Pages and others.

Set up a squeeze page and an e-course to start your list building. Once you have this set up you will need a product. The easiest way to do this is to find a PLR product or a resell rights product so you have a way to start monetizing what you are doing.

Now you could do it with your own product but it is easier to start with a PLR or RR product to save you time. Then as you are building your list you can ask exactly what people want and supply it.

Once you have these things set up it is time to look at generating traffic to your sites. This is where article marketing, posting to your blog, video marketing and podcasting can start generating traffic for you.

Final step is to find affiliate products that you can promote on your back end. Finding the right affiliate products and using affiliate products with residual income can increase your leverage.

Now unlike the scams out there that make it seem easy this will take some training and effort but this is what it takes to make a sustainable income.

You can get complete training and accomplish all of these steps in 4 weeks working part time if you have the right mentoring and training.

Week In Review – January 16, 2010

Well two weeks into 2010 and I am still trying to write 2009. Old habits die hard but so far it has been a great start to the new year and decade.

Yesterday I did the last post for the blog tour and it has been a great time. While it was a bit of work to crank out an extra 5 posts a week it was good to travel around the internet.

Being publicly accountable had an advantage too. It eliminated procrastination and the need to be perfect. One of the reasons I think it is important to have an accountability partner.

Somehow when you have told someone else what you will be doing it gets done much more often than when you tell yourself.

Now to the blogs this week.

Week In Review – January 9, 2010

Wow the new decade is upon us. I started to write 2009 and had to correct it. Guess it has not quite sunk in yet.

The Week In Review is something that I am considering let go as part of the many changes I am doing in my business for this new decade. Not sure yet, but your comments will have a lot of weight so if you enjoy this weekly digest leave a comment below and let me know.

This is the first one of the new year and actually the first one in 3 weeks. I took some time off over the holidays and a lot of that was in planning for the new decade and deciding what was going to stay and what was going to change. Scroll down a post or two and you will see what I am talking about.

PLR Video Tutorials Review

This is the fourth in a series of reviews that I’ve been doing for year end of evergreen products. Evergreen products are products that are usable over and over and over. All of the products being reviewed are products that I personally use and recommend highly.

PLR Tutorial Videos is another that fits the mold.

Now to be clear here PLR stands for private label rights and is one of the easier ways to create a unique product for sale or as a lead generator easily.

Now despite all the products out there that will tell you …

You don’t need a website
You don’t need a product of your own
You don’t need a list

In my opinion that is crap. Everyone that I know that is making good money has all of those. There are a few people that may make some money without them but I may not have met them.

Yes you can make good money as an affiliate but even there the affiliates that make the most have a list, or a product and I know none that don’t at least have a hosting account.

So whether you are looking to sell primarily as an affiliate you still need at the least a giveaway product to build your email list. That is where PLR comes in to play.

The reason I like these videos is that Doug will walk you through exactly how to do each of the steps to take a raw PLR package to a product you are selling that is unique to you or as a subscriber sucking freebie to build your list.

Doug has a ton of little golden nuggets included in the videos to increase your income from your PLR product in a variety of ways.

If you have never used PLR successfully to create your own product, whether for sale or from subscriber acquisition this is a tutorial that will get you moving and break down the barriers that have stopped you.

Now if you already have converted PLR products successfully this may be a bit basic for you but even most experienced people will find a tip or two to increase your monetization.

PLR is definitely something that you should be using in your business and this will allow you to get the most out of it.

Week In Review – December 19, 2009

The year is rapidly heading to a close and here in PA when I look out the window I see the first major snow storm of the year covering things quickly. Christmas is less than a week away. Where has 2009 gone?

This will probably be the last Week In Review for this year as I am slowing down for the next two weeks to spend time with family and friends. (Slowing down but not stopping by any means.)

I have been doing a lot of review work and planning for next year and one of the things I have been doing is looking at what I use regularly. There are tons of new products released each week, some I recommend and others I don’t.

For the rest of the year though I wanted to go through the products that I deem “Evergreen” and use in some cases almost daily. Look for those reviews between now and the end of the year.

Now to the blogs before we all go into holiday mode.

Well Christmas is less than 2 weeks away and Hanukah has already started. The holiday season is definitely upon us.

Been a different kind of week and did not get as much accomplished this week as I would like but will keep taking massive action on the things that will pay off.

The turtles have been just about dormant and unfortunately so has their blog. Guess I need to boost them up a bit and tell them to start earning their keep again .

Where has the time gone this year? Sitting here with less than 3 weeks until Christmas and less than 4 weeks until a brand new year. Gee I guess I am getting old cause time seems to really fly anymore.

Time for me to look at a new closing for my emails and I have decided that as I retire “To your success in 2009″ the new one should be “Go Take Action Now” or “Take Massive Action Today”. Let me know what you think?.

Doing, whether you get it right, wrong or indifferent will always beat the person who tries to get it perfect. Get it going and make it better as you go. Enough lecture for this week. Now to the blogs.

WOW! Where does the time go when you are having fun? The year is almost over as we reach the end of the 11 th month of 2009. Boy 2010 is rapidly approaching.

Here in the US we celebrated Thanksgiving this week and being a holiday week you would expect things to slow down but instead it seems to have only gotten busier.

Been a bit slow with my blog posting this week with the exception of The Old Bald Guy’s Blog Tour. Partly because I have been working on some new things and playing with the beta version of WordPress 2.9.

Have also been testing some new things which you will hear about as soon as I have results. The other time crunch for me has been taking in a couple new offline clients. This will become a bigger part of my ongoing business and will get more focus soon. I do recommend if you have basic webmaster skills and a bit of marketing knowledge that you grab Offline SEO Pro and start doing the same. Your local businesses actually want and need your skills.
