Well hope you survived April Fools Day and are having a great week end. Google was definitely a winner in the April Fools jokes with a variety of items from their services.

This means that the year is now 25% completed. Are you on track and where you want to be?

Between finishing up taxes, yes if you are in the US April 15th is almost here, and a new project have not put out as much content this week as is normal. Will be getting back to normal a bit later this month.

What a week! Spring is almost here both on the calendar and in the actual weather. Of course as soon as I figure that to be absolutely true Mr Murphy and a foot of snow will show up. So I guess I better not say it too loud.

St Paddys Day was Thursday. The day that every one is Irish for the day at least. Doug Champigny might have hit the Jameson a bit early, because he has a package of 12 self help books with MRR for the price of one. It ends tonight though so check it out today. (Guess the Jameson wore off )

Week In Review – March 12, 2011

Well the snow is finally gone from the backyard here. First time since November. Spring should be coming soon. (At least I hope so. Awful tired of winter here.)

The week has been quite busy but then that is not unusual here. Added a video walk through of Marlon Sanders The Traffic Dashboard in the post below here so you can see exactly what is included and why I am so excited about it.

Had a great conference over at Get Referrals Fast on Thursday and you can attend each Thursday at 8 pm est. Details are added to the training blog each week.

Google Panda update (Farmers slap) has continued to be a big topic of discussion. Nicole Dean and Susanne Meyers just released a new product about that called Article Marketing Revisited.

The update has actually increased their traffic and they explain why. Offering it at an extreme discount for the first week and the first two days all of the proceeds will be donated to help the tsunami victims in Japan.

Do Private Label Rights Get A Bad Rap?

Private label rights can be like a coin flip. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It is because of two reasons that people either love PLR or hate it. Often it is because of the quality they received or they think that private label rights means no work.

The first part may be very true if you don’t find quality PLR. There is a lot of crap being sold as PLR. That is one of the reason I started a blog just to highlight quality PLR vendors that I use.

If you get quality PLR when you start then your job becomes easier. There are a number of quality vendors out there. Some of my favorites are…

Rosie Cottis at Flamillion PLR

And there are quite a few others featured at The PLR Secrets blog along with announcements of their latest releases.

If you start with quality PLR you can win much more easily if not you lose and complain.

That is only half of the solution to getting the most from PLR and becoming a raving fan (like I am) instead of complaining.

Here is the part where I lose a lot of people. You have to edit and adapt it. Yes, that dang 4 letter word WORK is coming into play once again.

Now it does not have to be hard and thanks to those that are still reading. I know I lost a few when I mentioned that W word.

PLR is a time saver but it is not a big red button.

Most PLR, even the best quality is written without personality. If it was you couldn’t use it unless your voice matched it. You need to do some editing to get your personality in it before you use it.

If it is an article, add you in it and use it for blog content or any other place you need content like your Squidoo lens, etc. I do not recommend you use it for article marketing unless you have completely rewritten the content. It will get denied by the better article directories.

If it is a report, take the time to personalize it to you. Edit it, add your own links and make it yours. Often I will take two or more and make a more complete report and do it in half the time it would take to do it on my own.

If you buy a PLR product then you need to do the same things. Add your personality to it, change up the sales letter, add your own bonuses, edit the graphics and make it yours.

So if you grab a lot of the crap that is out there you will be joining the crowd of people that complain about PLR, but if you grab quality and put a little effort into it, you will have found a great way to save time building your business.

Creating Your Sales Funnel – Part 1

Once again life has been interfering with my plans. Just seems to happen that way. Expected this done last week but it is finally moving forward.

Back to setting up my sales funnel for the Article Marketing For Beginners product.

Started by brain storming some ideas for a free report.

One of the things I know from past experience is that the key is to just get it done. Then test and tweak it.

I created a report and titled it “5 Mistakes That Will Implode Your Article Marketing Efforts“. This covered 5 of the biggest mistakes that people make that keep them from being successful in their article marketing efforts.

Next step was to create a cover for the report and create a squeeze page to give the report away. Of course that meant I needed some other pages too.

So I ended up creating…

A squeeze page
A confirmation page
A download page

Finally I needed to create some follow up emails. Now that I have the first couple of emails done it is ready to start testing. The first test was to actually sign up and go through the process myself to make sure that everything is working.

At this point I am ready to start sending traffic to it. The easiest way is to do an email ad swap with someone. From past experience I know what type of sign up rate I should get and once I know for sure that it is working well then there are other things to do.

First step though has been to create the report and start testing it. I may need a new title or a better squeeze page but the key is to get started now.

Send the traffic, see the results and then start making changes. It is way too easy to keep tweaking things towards perfection and never actually get the report out there.

Besides the ad swaps I will start setting up traffic funnels to it even before the tests are done through article marketing, Hub Pages, Squidoo pages, etc.

So off to start the testing. Once I am happy with it then all of my efforts will go into other avenues like making it rebrandable and giving this system to my affiliates.

Can only do that once I know I have something that works and converts well. Will walk through the rest of the steps once the testing is done.

Week In Review – January 15, 2011

Well another week in the books for 2011. Not exactly what I had planned for but that seems to be the way things are going of late.

Just back from Reading to drop off the nephew to his Mom’s so running late which has been more often than not so far this year.

I am getting back on track though so that is a good thing even if just a little bit behind. Today will be a catch up day as the Eagles lost last week so football no longer as big a priority there.

A lot of new quality PLR packages released this week though.

Well it is now 2011 and after a hiatus of a couple weeks for the holidays the Week In Review is back. Things are picking up as they usually do this time of year and it will be interesting to see what changes come about this year.

There have been some changes for the new year as the turtles are retiring from their blog and The Old Bald Guy has gone back to its roots.

Have been a bit behind in getting the latter going but the OBG will be back to what it was shortly. My chance to let the split personality really show.

Week In Review – December 18, 2010

It has been a crazy week here to say the least. Was without an internet access from Tuesday morning until yesterday. Made for a goofy week to say the least. Working from their library made for very limited access.

The good part is it did allow me to get some things done here but it really messed up my plans for the week.

One week from Christmas today and two weeks until 2011.

The good part is that when you don’t have any interruptions from the usual things like email, Skype, etc. it is amazing how much you can do on various projects quickly.

Now off to a very abbreviated blogging list.
