Why now for an Adwords report?

Most of you know that I do a podcast with my partner each week over at The Mike and Erik Show. We record each Thursday so that with the post production we can get our podcast broadcast every Friday.

Earleir today we did the recording. There was a portion where I actually shocked my partner.

Now a bit of background here. We always cover the latest news with the launches of note in the Internet Marketing arena and usually don’t have any specific recommendations on any of the PPC products that come out. We don’t use PPC a lot so it would not be right to recommend something that may be excellent but that we haven’t tried or reviewed.

Well, one of the launches yesterday was from Simon Leung who used to work for Google in Adwords. The report was called “The Death of Adwords“. Now Simon is charging a nominal $2 for the report but what caused the shock was when I mentioned that I had actually bought it.

Erik was astonished. I don’t use Adwords as a major portion of my business and don’t usually buy anything about it because it doesn’t fit my current business model.

After we discussed it though he began to understand why.

Here is why -

1. Simon was a Google insider and understands the culture.
2. Even though Adwords isn’t big in my business Adsense (the flip side is).
3. Search engines (of which Google is the biggest) drive a lot of my traffic.
4. Things that effect search engines (Adwords being part of that ) will effect me.
5. It is only $2 (very cheap education)

Now a couple caveats to be clear. Yes Simon is looking to upsell you from the report (he is a marketer and a good one) and I do get something for sending you there. Not the reason for doing this as I hope I have explained. In fact I will put two links like I usually do with things I think are worth your while so you may choose whether or not I get paid as the point of this is to get you solid information not a money grab.
