Too Old To Learn?

It is funny what a person reacts to in a presentation. As most of you know I spent a weekend in Dallas at a seminar. It covered an absolute ton of different ideas. One of the things that really resonated with me though was Russell Brunson. At one point he pulled an Ipod out of his shirt pocket and was talking about how this was an up and coming new tool.
Now understand that Russell is younger than some of my kids. Yes I truly am an Old Bald Guy. It struck me though that one of the things I was missing being old and bald is some of the up and coming technology. That is quickly coming to an end. That very night after dinner I went out and bought an Ipod. I sell information products and this is probably one of the newest distribution channels available.
Flash forward to arriving home from Dallas. I start unpacking and sorting out the variety of notes and gifts for the better half and her daughter. (Well my step daughter wanted a boy from Texas as her gift but was more than happy to have the t-shirt from Hooters.) She was quite happy until she noticed the new Ipod. Now it really got interesting. She couldn’t understand why an old fart like me would even need something like an Ipod.
Now this really set off my alarm bells. I may be old and bald but that doesn’t make me stupid. If all of her friends in that 18-25 range are into this as a delivery method it is definitely a way to get to my future market. After all they are potential lifetime customers.
Now I have been all over downloading podcasts on a variety of subjects that will help to grow my business. The Ipod goes with me when I take my evening walk, go work in the yard or almost anywhere else I travel to. Some of the downloads are free and others have a cost.
Now I then could see the potential here so I started looking for ways to monetize it. That led me to a nice ebook “Podcasting Made Easy”. This filled in the blanks on how I could use podcasts to drive traffic to my sites, distribute information to subscribers and much more. You can check it out here.
After all can you afford to miss the huge volume of 18-30 year olds that are using this technology they way Old Bald Guy’s like me used the phone as youngsters.

Hey Mike
Congrats on your ipod. I’m glad you are using that idea. It was nice meeting you in Dallas.
Thanks

Russell,
Was great to meet you and the ideas I have received from you and the other speakers have create a to do list that will take me a while.
One of the things I did learn from Mike Filsaime in Charlotte though was to just take no more than two and complete them. Hide the list of ideas until those two are done then rinse and repeat.
Tha has made podcasting the number one thing to get going. Thanks for the idea and opening my eyes to an area that an Old Bald Guy would totally overlook.
