Giveaways – are you missing out?

  • Sharebar

Yes I am ranting on using Giveaways again. Did a seminar on this yesterday at Affiliate Funnel that has already gotten great reviews via Twitter.

petersolty: @treeseacher Thanks for following me @spuby: Thanks for the comment @MikePaetzold: Great AF seminar today

I even did a short video that explains how to use the giveaways and what is involved in participating.

If the technical parts are holding you back check out Easy Giveaway Plan for a step by step walk through of the technical side.

There is another side to the giveaways besides being a contributor and this area really can mess up new people.

When you go to a giveaway site to get free gifts (and you should) make sure that you know what your business is first. Be very picky about what you download. People that try to grab everything just because it is free overwhelm themselves. Then they get no value and a lot of new lists they have subscribed to which increases the confusion.

Lets use an example here.

Your business model is to build a list and sell affiliate products. You have never done ad sense. You don’t create ad sense content sites. Don’t download the products about using ad sense they don’t fit your business.

You see a book about increasing your subscribers grab that because it applies to your business. You see a plr report that fits your ideal customer grab that and use it as a giveaway on a new squeeze page to generate even more subscribers.

Now the advice would be the exact opposite if your business is based on creating content sites. Grab the ad sense information ignore the plr report. Only grab things that you can apply NOW.

The biggest killer I have seen for people to get a successful business up and running is not focusing on a very specific business model. Once that is running well and on auto pilot you can decide of you would like to add a different business model but in most cases you will benefit more from a rinse and repeat then trying to start something new and go through the learning curve all over again.

Also some of the giveaways have an option to pay and just be able to download the products and not join new lists. If you can afford it this can be a great way to get products YOU CAN USE at a discount. Don’t make the mistake because you paid to try and grab everything. You just end up with additional digital dust gatherers on your hard drive.

Those caveats out of the way check out the following giveaways and add some additional learning or products to your business.

Love those giveaways but when i first started I would have needed a external drive to download all of the stuff I wanted to get.

    Hey Mike,

I actually slacked off last month and saw a reduction of Alexa and Compete rankings, not to mention a drop in traffic.

All because I didn’t promote any giveaways!

    Great post!

    Mike,

Great points for the ‘newbie’ to follow.

I know the first couple of giveaways that I got involved in, I did exactly that, downloaded 5-10-15 products just because they looked interesting and I thought I could use them at some point in time…flash forward–I think a lot of those products are still sitting on my computer gathering cyber dust…AND I am still subscribed to the lists that I needed to opt in to to download…but there is a reason for that.

One of the niches that I market in, I use the emails that I receive from others for inspiration for the emails that I send out!!

As for newbies, yes, it is a better idea to know what you are looking for before you start clicking on download buttons and get totally confused before you even start making some cash.

Excellent post. Keep up the good work.
