What is PLR or Private Label Rights?

  • Sharebar

Yesterday I received a couple emails asking me just this question so figured it was easiest to address it here. This question came up because of the launch yesterday of the Free PLR Giveaway 6.

Side note: Another case of the assume word coming back to bite me and a lesson to be learned. In the IM arena lots of new people join our lists and read our blogs and occasionally we forget the learning curve and don’t go basic enough. My apologies that it was not fully explained and thanks to those that asked.

The easiest way to think of private label rights is that you are outsourcing the specific project. You can do just about anything with the product whether they are articles, a report, videos, audios, software, etc. that you could do if you paid someone to create it. It is yours. You can change it, add your name as author, sell it for what you want.

Caveat: Not all items labeled PLR are totally unrestricted. Always check the license that comes with the product for any restrictions that have been added. Always read the license you are given.

Once you have the PLR product you next need to decide what to do with it. In this case I will go through some options you could use to take advantage of the gift I placed in the Free PLR Giveaway 6.

My gift is a report on using Twitter and WordPress together. It also has a squeeze page and related pages. There are psd files, a word document and a pdf.

If you are tight for time you could just edit the pages with your autoresponder code and use the pdf as is to start building a list of people interested in that topic. Put them online or add it as a bonus for signing up to your blog updates, generate traffic to the page and you are done.

You can take it to the next level by changing the graphics, editing the report and adding you as author. Then use the report the same way but branding yourself instead of me.

You could take the content of the report and use it as blog posts or to write articles. You could combine the report with other PLR you have and create your own product.

You could use the report as a bonus for a related product that you are selling. Your imagination and the amount of effort you want to put into it is the only restriction.

Now if you would like more information and training on how to get even more from using PLR I do recommend you check out Doug Champigny’s PLR Tutorial Videos. Get those then visit the Free PLR Giveaway 6 to get some products at my favorite cost to get you started.

Your question and comments are welcomed and a special thanks to those that emailed me with this question as I can overcome the first part of that ass/u/me word.
