What did you accomplish today?

One of the things I rant about regularly is taking action. Now lets be clear this is actions that will move your business forward not the maintenance crap that is necessary but can overwhelm you.

Taking the time to accomplish at least one step to improve your business is the key. It is a brand new month and the year is half gone. Are you satisfied?

I am not but then I wasn’t taking action for a couple months. May and June have been fantastic but March and April sucked. I spent as much time on my business in those months but I was in a funk and not completing things. Too much perfectionism and not enough “Git R Done”.

The difference is amazing in my bank account and that is the ultimate measuring stick.

Today is an example. Had a lot to get accomplished and I want to go chase the white ball among the trees this afternoon. After all through the rest of this holiday week end it will be too crowded at the golf course.

Will be leaving for there as soon as I finish this post. Here is the morning schedule.

  • Got up and made coffee always my first priority ;)
  • Fed the turtles and sat down to check email and support
  • Shared the overnight items from my Google reader that were worthwhile
  • Sent out the daily ezine
  • Ate breakfast
  • Ran to the supermarket
  • Added the new month of content to Super Traffic MRR to drip out later this month
  • Created the new freebies for Freebie Friday
  • Created the offer for Saturday Seven
  • Attended Marlon Sanders A Team call
  • Did my blog post

Now I am off to chase the little white ball under every tree on the course. What did you get done?

P.S. Don’t forget the Traffic Tips Call with Doug Champigny and Willie Crawford tonight at 9pm. You need to sign up to attend. There will be a replay but it will be a paid product so you really don’t want to miss this call.

  1. Ne’er a truer word was spoken, Mike!

In our industry it’s like a ‘critical mass’ threshold exists – when we take it easy, everything dies off fairly quickly. But when we stay busy, everything’s jumping – not just what we’re working on, but the entire business picks up. Guess it’s like radio & TV ads, where you have to keep yourself top-of-mind with your prospects so they choose your products over others. The busier we stay the more often people are seeing new content, products and services from us so the sales increase follows naturally.

Having a plan of attack is key. I find that the days that I don’t schedule my important tasks they just don’t get done. I find other things to do that are not as important. I like to tackle more difficult tasks early in the day. When I say difficult I mean things that I’m learning to do that require more time and attention. Then I can go on to other things

I find reading your posts reminds me to stay focused. I too would like to improve my second half of the year earnings. And setting that schedule helps to stay on track. Juggling between a job and the computer can be tough but must make room for it. Thanks.

  4. Sounds like you had a busy schedule and accomplished a lot. You are right “Too much perfectionism” can slow down progress. I plan to be on the Traffic Tips Call. It should be a good one.

  5. WOW!

I wish I could just get half of that done.

Actually I need to plan much better than I do and I know that I will be able to do much better. My main problem is the same one that has plagued me for years and that is that I keep getting distracted very easily.

I am working on planning my day out much better and keeping more of the distractions down so I should be able to do much better in the future. Just need to keep focused.

What I like is that you have two great cookie cutter products that you can rinse and repeat every week/month. Once you have the format and basic concept established you merely need to repeat them. Save a lot of “contemplation and conceptualization” time.
