Week In Review -March 15, 2008

It has been a great week and really not much here in the way of launches this week.

Mike’s Rant

There has been some great free content released for upcoming launches like Product Launch Formula 2 and Viral Ebook Explosion.

Next week that will change quickly though. You will see a lot of email next week so I wanted to do a quick review of how you should treat it.

Most of the email you will get will be for good products but you need to do what I call the “Is it for me? Checklist”. If it is then you should grab it and if it isn’t but the email was good and had you almost buying SAVE THE EMAIL in your swipe file.

This way you can analyze it and improve how you market products. Now for a quick check list I personally use. Ask these questions before spending your money.

  1. Can I use this RIGHT NOW?
  2. Will adding this improve what I am doing or will it be a new learning curve?
  3. Will I have the time to implement this?
  4. Can I afford this right now?

The problem usually isn’t the products you buy or whether they work but did you actually use it? Yes, there are some that aren’t any good but the vast majority that get used by someone whose business is ready for the product help people and work quite well.

Here is an example of what I am saying. Last week I promoted Floating Action Button. If you don’t have your own hosting with your own web site or blog on it this is a product that you can’t use until you do step one and create a web site or your own blog. Doesn’t mean the product isn’t good. Means it isn’t good for you right NOW. You would be much better getting a product that would help you create your own web site or get a blog up on your own hosting account. Once that is done then this might be a great investment for your business.

News

I have been sending out some emails to let you take part in an experiment to test out how effective various isps and esps are at delivering the email you want to you. Email deliverability has been getting worse and Alan Bechtold is running this experiment to get actual stats on which services actually pay attention to what you white list. If you haven’t signed up to help test this you can check it out at the Email Experiment.

Wednesday night at 8pm will be the next Qand A call for the upgraded members of 15 Minute Blog Traffic. If you have purchased 15 Minute Blog Traffic and not upgraded you can try the call for just $1. All your questions answered live and it will last to all the questions are answered.

My podcast moved to a new location this week. Erik just did not have the time so Steve Roye has joined me over at Amplification Marketing News to continue the podcast. The format has changed a bit and will be more training driven and less what is new. For our first session we had a discussion of what our format will be and an interview with Soren Jordansen that looked at Floating Action Button - A perfect example of amplification.

Blast From The Past

This area is for a review of what Marlon Sander’s calls evergreen products. With all the launch hype each week quite often good products show up on the screen and blip they are gone. There is a reason I mentioned Marlon Sander’s because he creates more evergreen products than most.

info

This week we’ll look at Info Product Dashboard.

Marlon is known for taking complex topics and breaking them into simple step by step plans. This does that in spades.

Anyone can easily create a product in a very short time if you follow the steps and take action.

It really doesn’t matter what niche you work in you will need your own product. The leverage you get from having your own product is huge. This gets one of my strongest recommendations. Check out Info Product Dashboard today.

That’s all for this week. Please let me know what you like and what you don’t.
