Traffic generation through repurposing

Repurposing your content is something that has become second nature to me but like a lot of things that you pick up as you work online it often is forgotten when explaining to others. It comes under that bad word when trying to explain things to others – ASSUME. Because it is second nature to you your explanation some times ignores things because you ASSUNE everyone knows and does that. That was why I used that as a topic for a seminar at Affiliate Funnel last Saturday.

Creating content can be expensive either in time or money at times but if you repurpose the content your expenditure becomes much less. That being said content is king when it comes to generating traffic.

Below is a quick look at how you can repurpose your content quickly and easily to generate traffic.

Now there are even more ways you can repurpose the same information but if you just start using this you can get quite a bit more value out of your content.

Start with creating an article on a topic and post it to your blog.

Record an audio version of the blog post and submit it to the podcast directories.

Make a short power point presentation and create a video out of it. Submit your video to the various video sites.

Submit the blog post in article format with an appropriate signature file to the various article directories.

Finally if you are creating content multiple times on the same or similar topics (and you should be) put them together into a pdf that you can give away for list building or if you gather more create a product to sell from them.

Quality content can be used in many different formats. If you have other ways to repurpose feel free to leave your comments. I will be expanding on each of these points in the future if there is an interest. I can judge that by the number and quality of the comments I receive.

  1. Mike,

Re-purposing content makes you much more efficient. We all should try to do that, but as often easier said then done.

Personally it seems better to first write an e-zine for the article directories then follow your sequence.

Also I have done (and maybe should fo more) is turning the sequence around and start with taking a PLR product into articles and blog posts.

But re-purposing should remain your target.

I thinks its a good idea to think about how you are going to re-purpose content before hand. Not that I do. For example, I intend to start a series of blog posts on search engine optimization for a couple of my blogs. As I prepare the series I expect that it will all flow smoother if I think ahead about the chunks of material I provide so they can flow smoothly as blog posts and eventually as parts of a chapter for the eBook or report I will end up with. Maybe there not that much difference, but the voice one uses in a blog post may be a bit more informal than that in an article submitted to the article directories. Are there other considerations I should look at ahead of time?

I think re-purposing is a great way to get more products out there. I really like your diagram showing just how it can be done. need to do more of this myself.

This is one amazingly easy and simple way to blast out a lot of great content in many different forms. These days the Internet is expanding quickly with many different options to view content, so you need to be where your potential customers are and deliver the content in a way that they will want to see it.

  5. Some great tips Mike,

It is so easy to repurpose material in so many ways and yet very few people ever actually do it.

I am currently putting an ebook together from a series of blog post that I did a couple of months back and will be creating audios from that material to go along with it. May even turn the whole thing into a series of videos in the future as well, but that is a little farther down the line yet.

Thanks for making people more aware about this.

  6. Repurposing – using the same content for many purposes. This means that you do less work, yet get much more from your efforts. Create content and then use it to create several applications. Great advice. Wish I had been doing more of it. Thanks for this tip, will start using it more.

  7. Repurposing is also the best use for those large collections of PLR articles floating around the net these days. While far too many people have put them on sites and blogs as articles and posts, most have never been used as podcasts or videos, meaning the audiences for those two media have never been exposed to most of that information. And any time you can put new information in front of a major audience, you know you’ll derive a lot of traffic from it!

Congrats for introducing people to so important a topic, Mike – look forward to your continuing posts on the topic!

    Wonderful Mike.

I have always thought there was a way to do those things. Thanks for laying it out in a methodical/logical way.
