Setting up your autoresponder

  • Sharebar

Setting up your autoresponder goes hand in and with creating your squeeze page. See you need the form from your autoresponder to add to your squeeze page but you need the location of the pages for your verification and thank you pages to create your autoresponder. Why it was really a toss up to see which I would write about first.

Now this will be referring to the set up steps on AWeber as that is the autoresponder I use and recommend. I won’t go through each step as they have great tutorials to walk you through the setup. (Another reason I really like and recommend AWeber.)

Log in and create a new account then add in the information for your list such as the email address to send from, etc.

Then I recommend you edit the email that is sent out for verification to add in the specific things such as the name of your bribe so if someone gets it they know why they need to verify their email.

Next add in the confirmation success page which will be the page that explains how to white list your email etc.

Next you need to add your first email message or welcome message. Here is where you will explain what they are getting, if you had a download then link back to that page from here and address the first benefit you created for your squeeze page with a link back to your product offering.

You can add as many emails as you wish to this warm up covering the various benefits you defined earlier each time linking back to your product offering.

Next you need to create the form you will add to your squeeze page. Here you can click and drag to create your form but the important part is to have your thank you or download page in place of the default page from AWeber.

Add that code they generate to your squeeze page where you want the form to be and you are set.

If you need more help there are videos to help you through each step in your AWeber account. If you need help with the page creation there are free videos at Videos For Beginners. For more help check out Design Dashboard.

As always your questions and comments are welcomed.

I think beginners often don’t set up a squeeze page and autoresponder because they might think it’s hard to do, but like you explained it, it’s not that hard and the services usually have great tutorials to help.

One thing to remember is to create custom “thank you” and confirmation pages. There are so many more opportunities to make more sales when you don’t use the standard pages.

Good post Mike. If you don’t set up your autoresponder properly, then you may as well not bother having one. It needs attention as it is the crux of your business online.

I like your point about putting white list instructions on confirmation success page. I have seen a wide variety of such pages used by various people. Do you happen to have or know of a good one that is free to use. Saw a long and very complete on recently but it was copyrighted.
