List building is the key
Two big surprises from the surveys last week. Most people had a web site in fact most of the people that responded had more than one. The list building one was the real key though.
Despite 90% of the people voting having a web site of some type 205 had not even started building a list. To make matters worse almost 75% of all the respondents had less than 500 subscribers and over 50% had less than 100 subscribers.
Now I personally fought against list building for a few years when I started. I did make some money but it was always hit and miss. I was into downline building but would put a lot of effort into someone else’s program and then if it disappeared I lost all my work.
So it is understandable that list building has become a focus for me and I strongly recommend you do the same. Being able to build a relationship with people is the key to generating consistent income online.
It does not have to be as hard as you may think either. Grab a domain and if you use something like The Marketers Hosting you can hosting for multiple domains, unlimited autoresponders, trackers and an affiliate program for $20. a month. It is how I run my affiliate program.
There are numerous PLR packages available that come complete with squeeze pages, emails and more for as little as $7. Right now I know of two that are available for that price but they come and go quickly. One on affiliate marketing and this week’s Saturday Seven is on Twitter. (Saturday Seven disappears after Monday night.)
So if you are stuck with getting started here is an action plan for you that will cost you less than dinner for 2 at a restaurant.
Grab a domain, get the hosting and autoresponder from The Marketers Hosting then grab one of the PLR packs and actually put it up or if the topics do not fit your business then do a search for PLR squeeze pages on your topic.
You can not start building a list with out putting the effort into setting up these types of pages. Take action and each time you do this your results will increase.
All you need then is to drive traffic to these pages.

Often I get people saying they don’t know where to start online, or nothing they’re doing is working, or they’re experiencing information overload or that they’ve spent a fortune on products but still aren’t getting anywhere. In response to all of those issues, the answer is the same…
Pull back and refocus on the two most-important ingredients in online success – driving targeted traffic and building their lists. Both are necessary skills for online success, so the sooner you master them and the sooner you build that list, the shorter the time you have to wait to take control of our own destiny. And until you’ve got a good handle on those two skills, everything else is noise – distractions to be overcome.

Your very right, we really need to focus on list building. Like you said, if your building up your downline in a site other than your own, it can all be taken away at any moment. Sure we can still do that, but we need to be building our own business at the same time.

A right on post – List building is key. You have outlined a procedure that will help anyone to get started. You have even made it easy by pointing people to some products to make it easy to get started. Now as you stated at the end of your post all people have to do is Take Action. Will the 90% do that? Well action is a key that must be taken before the key of list building.

List building is key. I fully agree. i think focus should shift more to quality then quantity. All those giveaways and swaps seems to degrade the quality…

List building is an ongoing process and as you say it does not need to be difficult. I like the 2 products you mention as they include squeeze pages. Creating squeeze pages is one area that can be difficult for people (like me) so that helps

List Building takes time. It’s usually a slow go at first which is all the more reason to get started sooner.

The problem Mike is that most people don’t know the HOW of “just put a squeeze page up” and even more so “just drive traffic to it”.
That’s why we wrote “Expert List Building” to provide a step by step plan.
