Giveaways and you – how to get the most benefit
I haven’t discussed giveaways in a while but with the new one Daddy’s Birthday Giveaway figured it was time to review how to get the most out of any giveaway as a subscriber and a contributor.
First as a subsciber…
Number one lesson is don’t be greedy. This can kill your business and cause absolute info overload. If you sign up to get free gifts get things that will help you where your business is today. Don’t grab every shiny object just because they are free.
Now if you are using article marketing and don’t use pay per click and aren’t planning on adding it soon then a book on PPC is worthless. You will either just download and create a digital dust collector or worse you will take the time to read it and start a new learning curve while taking time away from the article marketing.
In most cases that will cause you to fail in both and then you end up becoming that jaded person that is complaining that none of this stuff works.
Guess what it all works if…
You work at it and become good at it. There aren’t any magic buttons out there and there are 1000′s of business models you can use that could work but until you become good at a specific keep learning that topic.
So getting back to the original premise if there is an article marketing gift in there grab it, apply it, test it out. If it works continue to expand it but don’t go off topic until you have a working system. Then you can add something new.
The key is that there are quite a few good products in each giveaway I have ever seen but just grab the ones that are valuable to your business.
Finally see if the new list that you have subscribed to is a fit for your business. If you are getting products that are helpful to your business then you should also be getting follow up information that is valuable too.
Follow the email you get because you did not grab just everything when you went through you won’t get overwhelmed. If the contributor though changes topic or does not give you value you can easily click that unsubscribe link but I do recommend that you at least give them a chance to prove themselves if they gave you something worthwhile.
Second as a contributor…
Make sure that you are monetizing the signup process because you will have the people that grab everything then quickly unsubscribe. It happens even if you are one that gives solid information in your email series.
Keep on topic with your gift and offer value to your new subscribers. Not much point in getting subscribers if you can’t build a relationship with them unless you just want ot brag about your numbers.
I prefer to build the relationship and build ongoing customers which ends up putting dollars in my pocket.
You can find more tips on getting the most out of being a contributor to giveaways at The Easy Giveaway Plan.
Final thoughts….
Giveaways are one of the ultimate win – win setups you can be involved in when used properly so take advantage of them in both ways but be smart about it.
Enough lecture for one day from me

Mike,
Thanks for another great lecture. The importancy of going give aways right can’t be stressed enough.
Time to get back there…

Giveaways are a win-win situation when handled properly, and you’ve laid it all out here for people, Mike – once again you’re a bundle of great advice. Thanks!

Good tips for those giveaways. It is just all those gifts for free makes you want to … But that is good advice and my hard drive will certainly agree that you should only grab what you need and then think about what you want.

Mike,
Thinks for the great tips on giveaways. I joined Daddy’s Birthday Giveaway but didn’t get my gift done. Hope to get it done soon so that I will be ready for a future giveaway.
I definitely agree that giveaways are a win-win effort. I got several sign ups from the last one. Just wasn’t sure I should use the same gift again. So, I am working on a new one.
Thanks,
Lonnie

Great advice once again!
For beginners, giveaways are great to get free product to learn from, but like you mentioned, they can become overwhelmed. We just need to remember to focus on what we want to learn and accomplish, then maybe just download the gifts which will help you do those things.
