How Much Time Do You Waste
One of the big things that kills the average home business is getting involved in busy work instead of things that grow your business.
There are so many things you can do each day but are they things that are going to grow your business?
All too often you sit down to work and then the email alert goes off, Skype opens with your best bud or you here your Twitter client go off. All of these distractions stop you cold and you react to these instead of doing the thing that you sat down to do. That does not even begin to add in the other things that may interrupt you when you are working at home.
After all if you are home your friends or family feel no remorse in interrupting you.
Every interruption takes you 15 to 30 minutes to get back into the groove.
Now is answering email, using Twitter and networking on Skype always a waste? No but you need to have your golden time when you are doing the things that will grow your business.
These interruptions can make you seem to be extremely busy but at the end of the day you do not complete the tasks you set out to do.
Making sure that you accomplish the things that will grow your business is the key to being successful.
That is one of the reasons that I go through Time Management On Crack each quarter to get back to prioritizing the things that I need to do and recommend that you do too.
It is time and money well invested.

Great post Mike. For myself I have started to turn off/close down the programs that I don’t need right at the moment, in order to focus without distractions to get something done.

It does seem to be worthwhile to get a handle on just how much time is wasted. I would hate to actually take a look at myself though I know I know I really need to. Might be good idea to do a quarterly review of my time as you suggest. Thanks.

Do a quick Time Audit, i.e. for one week, note what you’re doing every 15 minutes during your working time. At the end of the week, total how much time is spent on each area and you’ll see where your time is being wasted, and why you need to join Mike in reading Time Management on Crack!
