Think about all the pages you use in your marketing system. Now I usually make sure I use them all. At least I try to ;-). A review last week showed me some gaping holes I had left open by hurrying.
It wasn’t that I did not know better. We are all busy and sometimes too busy trying to get this and that done. We sometimes just overlook the obvious.
For an example - I have been setting up some email follow up series on a few Clickbank products from a membership site I belong to. Now I receive the emails as part of the package so it is quite quick to set up. Sometimes, because it is easy we forget to do the whole job. If I had been creating them I would have been thinking about the pages that needed to be set up.
Instead, because it was “easy” I was more worried about trying to get them up and running, get the Adwords campaign working properly, test various ads and keywords and track the conversions.
What I didn’t do in my hurry is to set up the little things. I found that all those subscribers were going to the default page from my autoresponder when they clicked submit. To make it worse I was paying to get them and not taking every advantage of getting a return on my money. Boo hiss on the Old Bald Guy.
Yep, I copied and pasted the emails in but I forgot to take the time to create a custom page to explain that they would have to verify their email to receive the series they signed up for. More importantly, because it wasn’t my page I couldn’t have a little ad to pick up an extra sale or two every so often.
This is one of the easiest ways I know to add a sale if you match the product with the offer in your email series. Normally, this is a no brainer for me. But we all know the old saying - haste makes waste.
I have a variety of Resell Rights Products that I can usually match something to the topic of the email series. I prefer it to be a relatively inexpensive product that people will buy on the spur of the moment. Even $5-10 products add up if you are driving traffic to build your list.
The other thing is that I did not set any of these series up to show my co-registration page. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Having my co-registration page show once people verify their email address has normally added an additional 20-30% of any list I have been building.
Well, I quickly realized that my haste was costing me big time. I started fixing these little leaks. The first week it made me enough extra money to be able to order extra co-registration credits and get more subscribers without coming out of my pocket. Of course I do make sure that all those co-registrations will also get a chance to make an impulse buy ;-).
If you are building your list (and you should be), make sure you are not overlooking these little holes in your marketing plan. You will be surprised at what a difference it can make in your bottom line.
