Whether you need a website or not to be a successful affiliate marketer is a very common question I get. The answer is yes and no.
I know not what you wanted to hear. It really depends on how serious you are about your business.
I say no because you can get started using free resources but you will need a web presence. This can be a blogger blog, a Squidoo Lens or similar free site.
Blogger is probably the best to use because it is the most flexible. I know people who just use free sites and can make a nice living. There is a risk though.
Blogger and the other free sites can and do delete sites and you have no recourse. Blogger is probably the most forgiving but if you are building a long term business you really need to have more control of your business.
If money is a problem this is a great way to start but as soon as you start making money you will want to get your own domain/s and hosting.
Having your own domain and web presence is always the best way. There are a lot of things that you can do with your own hosting that you can’t do with the free options.
The most important thing is that it will not disappear as long as you pay your hosting.
It is easy to install a WordPress blog onto your site. It is flexible enough with the various plugins and themes available to be any type of site you may need.
So you do not have to have a website of your own but it is recommended. Either way you will need to have a web presence to be an effective affiliate marketer.

You’re right, Mike – these days a blog is essential to long-term success as an affiliate, just as is building an opt-in list. And each of those two can be used to strengthen the other, making each more powerful.

That’s the great thing for affiliate marketing, you don’t need to invest at all in the beginning if you can’t afford to. Promote a few products and when you make some sales, use that money to build and grow your business and websites.

I use to think that a website was not needed but eventually I think I got the idea that if I wanted to have a web presence i needed to get a site up and going. I think it is helpful but I understand why some people think it is not important. Maybe not at first but down the line…

Yes you can start without a site of your own, but you really aren’t in the game until you have a solid site and the skills to put it to work for you. If there is anything more important it would be an autoresponder, because you really do want to start getting that list building as soon as possible, and you can do that without a site, but it is of course much easier when you can create your own squeeze pages etc.

In my opinion, as an online attraction marketing expert, it’s seriously important to build a website or blog of your own with your domain name. Branding is very important because you are introducing something to your prospects or visitors who wanted to know more of your affiliate products or whatever it is that you are trying to promote. Nowadays, it’s easier for people to know more about your expertise and your products through the internet. Inline with your website it’s important that you have build your autoresponder or campaign for your prospects and possible prospects who will be visiting your website. So, I believe that building a website in this matter is a must.

When I was starting my adventure with the Affiliate Marketing I was using a wordpress blog as mine first site and after a few months of running it and adding a new content they just delete it with no chance to get it back so if anyone planing to be a Affiliate Marketer you need to have your own website and be independent in your work. Besides it will work much better for you than using the free bloging platforms.
