Week In Review – February 28, 2009

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Well two months are done in this year already. Where did the time go? Not sure but things are really rolling along quickly or it just may be being old and bald that makes it seem that way.

Been behind most of this week as I a flu bug kicked my butt and I lost a day resting and then spent a day traveling to honor my ex-mother in law who passed this week. She will be missed but would have been very pleased with the service.

The other thing that has slowed me down this week is implementing the start of my outsourcing. I have outsourced frequently before but this time I am in the process of taking it to the next level using John Jonas ideas in ReplaceMyself.com. Like all new items added into your business this has a learning curve and you actually slow down a bit before you can increase your business.

Probably a lesson though that we all need to consider and remember. Yes the sales letter for each and every product will tell you how easy it is and for most good products it is…

Once you get through the learning curve and apply the information. You will always have a learning curve and application time and all too often we don’t take that time or the effort to get through it. Think about that fact the next time you are looking at the next shiny object and make sure that you have applied the last one before you head off in a new direction. Understand that sometimes it takes a small step backwards (the application time) to move forward.

Well enough pontificating today I guess funerals (and at my age they have become all too regular of an occurrence) makes me look back and rethink things. Off to the blogs.

Whats new

Joel Osborne launched his Product Creation Success package and I did a white paper for purchasers on why he would sell so much value for such a low price. If you grab the package send a support request with a copy of your receipt to my help desk and I will send you the download link.

Robert Plank released his new Time Management On Crack product which I reviewed and loved. Not sure what Planky’s thing is with on crack but it is a common theme in his products. Something for inquiring minds to figure out? If you can figure it out let me know as it must be a young whippersnapper thing that is beyond this old bald guy.

Dr Mani released a free report that you don’t even need to opt in for that is worth checking out Business Multiplier. Very powerful ideas and won’t take you long to read. However, like most things the key is to apply them.

Been lots of big launches like the PPC Classroom and Ewen Chia’s book. I have not reviewed any of them but am sure you got pounded with email on them if you are on more than one list.

Will be doing a seminar today at noon if you read this early enough at Affiliate Funnel on Tracking – the key to improvement. Affiliate Funnel is free to join and the weekly seminars are valuable even when I am not the speaker ;) .

Upcoming

Last thing as this has become a huge review this week but Doug Champigny is launching his Free PLR Giveaway Sunday at noon. This is an invitation only event for contributors so there will only be quality new PLR products in there. Can be a great way to get some quality PLR for free. Properly applied (see the continuing theme today ;) ) these can be a great boost to your business.

Why you need a product

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Yesterday was a lost day. Got up and was starting to rock and roll when someone pulled my plug. Not sure what the bug was that is going through this house but it wiped me out. Hopefully, a full day down will allow me to get back to normal but figured I better blog early in case someone pulls my plug again. Tomorrow I will be away so could not go three days in a row with out rambling here for a bit.

Enough muttering for now. Let me see if I can make my point (always a 50/50 proposition ;) ).

One of the good things is that a lot of my business is not dependent on my daily utterances (although they do help a lot.) This is because I use the Marlon Sanders formula of trading products for dollars not time for dollars. I do recommend you grab his free report The Best Of Marlon Sanders. His list is one you really need to be on and pay attention to as there is a lot of value there if you pay attention.

I have a variety of products and create some and use PLR for others. Some sell well and some don’t. That too is normal. Unfortunately all you hear about when people are talking is the successes and not the failures. You will actually learn more from the failures if you pay attention and learn from the mistakes you made.

It is much easier to use PLR for creating your products once you understand how to do it. Doug Champigny has a great tutorial on use PLR at PLR Tutorial Videos. This can be a very powerful way to get going. Pay particular attention to how Doug adds even more value and future sales to his products while making them unique to him.

Doug will also be launching the Free PLR Giveaway on Sunday. It is all new PLR products from a select group of marketers so you get some really good products there to convert into YOURS. More info once it launches.

So the key point in this missive today is that you really need to start creating your own products even if you just use them to build your list so you can sell others products like shown in Promo Dashboard. The one part of your business no one can copy is you and products of your own add more of you into it.

Be back on Saturday with the Week In Review and will be presenting at the Affiliate Funnel seminar Saturday at noon.

Have a great day.

Something a bit different – now will it work?

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Today I did my email a bit different and violated some of the “rules”. Will it work? That is the real question and the answer will show up soon. That is one of the nice things about the internet – speed.

So I was different – here is the email

Subject – A 4 letter word that may not be bad?

Just a few quick things today that I have found
that can help you and be prepared because
sometimes I use the 4 letter word. You have
been warned.

First Dr Mani has a new report you can grab
with no opt in just go and download it. Well
worth the time to read it.

WARNING: This report may cause you to have
to do some of that four letter word WORK but
only if you apply it and if you do you will benefit.

http://mikepaetzold.com/likes/multiply

Second that crazy friend of mine Robert Plank
who Twitters me telling me I suck and he rocks
just launched Time Management On Crack.

http://mikepaetzold.com/likes/tmoc

I bought it last night and ended up reading the
whole thing and started applying it immediately.

Some really great tips and easy to apply. The follow
through may be a bit tough but then you get back
to that dang 4 letter word again.

It is a dime sale format so the price is rising as he
sells more copies.

Final thought for the day – Got some strange tweets
over yeterdays blog post including this one from
Joel Osborne

“Thank you @MikePaetzold for not calling me stupid :)
http://tinyurl.com/dzczvx

Sometimes doing something different can create a
bit of a stir. What have you tried different lately?

All for today – have a great one and don’t be afraid
of that 4 letter word – It can improve your business.

To your success in 2009.

Couple of things here that you are usually told to avoid like multiple items in the same email and using that dang 4 letter word work. After all people don’t want work they just want the easy button even though we all know that you need the work.

So what do you think? Will this work or won’t it? Do you even care about documenting experiments like this? Let me know in the comments. Will talk about the actual results in a couple days.

Overcome the stumbling block

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

There are a lot of little stumbling blocks you need to overcome as you create your business but there is one that seems to stop a lot of people and it really shouldn’t.

Creating your own product is one of the leverage points for anyone creating their own business. Yes you need to build your list, be blogging regularly and making affiliate sales but having your own product allows you to increase your leverage in your business.

You now have something to offer to affiliates, can leverage with others to create a joint venture and much more but…

Most feel overwhelmed about it. It really does not need to be that hard and Joel Osborne has put together his new book Product Creation Success in a package with two other books to help you. Then he added in the master resell rights at a stupidly (my initial thoughts) low price.

Product Creation Success

The reason I thought it was too low was that most would not see the value in it at the low price. After all it puts my radar up when something looks too good to be true doesn’t it yours?

Now I can’t comment on the other 2 products but I immediately read Joel’s and can tell you that it alone is worth more than double what he is asking for the package.

Now I know Joel and believe me he is not a stupid marketer so I went back and looked at why and exactly what he was doing. See Joel is a friend and if he was doing something that looked stupid to me I just knew that would not be the case. So I did some digging and actually unearthed the method to his madness.

So I wrote up a quick report (very short and succinct) that explained why he was doing what he was. If you grab his package at Product Creation Success I will give you the report.

The report is worth more than the investment in Joel’s package but for those that actually take action just send me a copy of your receipt to the help desk at http://askmikepaetzold.com and I’ll send you back the download link for the report.

I will let you know that one of the reasons Joel priced this so low is to help you succeed and make it easy for you and that is my goal too.

Week In Review – February 21, 2009

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Wow only one more week left and we will have finished the first two months of this new year. Time is flying and as I get older it seems to go faster and faster.

Did see a really good thing this week from Marlon Sanders that applies to that and Marlon has donned a fortune teller’s hat and wants to tell your future. Check it out and go with your marketer’s hat on and pay attention. It may be the best time you spend this week.

Now to the blogs…

Now the news…

Time sensitive and apologies if these are gone. There were a few of the PLR packs for Unique Weddings left when I talked to Doug last night but as these are limited to 100 they may be gone especially if you read this late. I did a whole post on two ways you can use these earlier this week on this blog. Check them out quickly.

Charity items – I hope you took advantage of Joel Comm’s Tweet A Thon 2009 to raise funds for Water Is Life. He had a kick butt show with lots of guests and great information. A $10 donation to Water Is Life can get someone 3 liters of fresh water a day for a year. Well worth a donation. I also just finished Joel’s new book – Twitter Power and recommend you go to Amazon and grab a copy if you haven’t already.

Check out Ryan’s Tribute from Jason Fladlien. As part of this promotion I will be doing a teleseminar with Jason on Monday night at 8pm for those that purchase his package. I do not make anything on this and will have nothing to sell on this call. It will cover types of blogs, Before you start and Setting up the blog. This will be content I have only added to my coaching program and is worth as much as the package Jason is selling and there are a lot more to the package than just this call. Hope to see you there.

Finally check out Daddy’s Birthday Giveaway but read the post below on it to get the most out of it. I love giveaways as both a contributor and to subscriber and so should you if you use them properly,

Have a great week end.

It is Friday and if you are like most you are getting ready to start the week end. Just saw this from Marlon and it will predict your future.

Predict Your Future Here

It will take you 5 minutes at most to read this but can make a huge difference in where you are on 12/31/2009.

Take the time to read it and pay attention to the process. Then stop back and let me know what you thought of it.

I think it is worth your time and effort let me know if you agree or disagree.

Helping others is always good too

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Today is a good day to give back and here are three ways to do it and gain something for your self while helping others.

The biggest will probably be Joel Comm’s Twitter Power Tweet -A – Thon starting at 12 noon est and running til midnight. It will be raising funds for Water Is Life which provides clean drinking water for children.

There will be a number of celebrities, giveaways and much more across both Ustream and Twitter. Should be a good time for all and there are many lessons to be learned by watching how this is put together. Best of all it benefits kids.

The second item today is Ryan’s Tribute. I will be participating along with quite a few others to raise funds in memory of Jason Fladlien’s brother who dies of cancer at age 8. You will get some great training and help a family recover and honor a brave boy. Monday I will be doing a content filled teleseminar to help provide extra content for this. Hope to see you there.

Finally the American Cancer Society is something I support because that disease cost me my father. Jon Atwood is taking part in a fund raiser for them and if you care to contribute you can help Jon with this as part of the Hope on the Slopes campaign.

All three are good causes and I hope you will join me in supporting them.

Will be back to our regularly scheduled marketing tips tomorrow.

Giveaways and you – how to get the most benefit

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

I haven’t discussed giveaways in a while but with the new one Daddy’s Birthday Giveaway figured it was time to review how to get the most out of any giveaway as a subscriber and a contributor.

First as a subsciber…

Number one lesson is don’t be greedy. This can kill your business and cause absolute info overload. If you sign up to get free gifts get things that will help you where your business is today. Don’t grab every shiny object just because they are free.

Now if you are using article marketing and don’t use pay per click and aren’t planning on adding it soon then a book on PPC is worthless. You will either just download and create a digital dust collector or worse you will take the time to read it and start a new learning curve while taking time away from the article marketing.

In most cases that will cause you to fail in both and then you end up becoming that jaded person that is complaining that none of this stuff works.

Guess what it all works if…

You work at it and become good at it. There aren’t any magic buttons out there and there are 1000’s of business models you can use that could work but until you become good at a specific keep learning that topic.

So getting back to the original premise if there is an article marketing gift in there grab it, apply it, test it out. If it works continue to expand it but don’t go off topic until you have a working system. Then you can add something new.

The key is that there are quite a few good products in each giveaway I have ever seen but just grab the ones that are valuable to your business.

Finally see if the new list that you have subscribed to is a fit for your business. If you are getting products that are helpful to your business then you should also be getting follow up information that is valuable too.

Follow the email you get because you did not grab just everything when you went through you won’t get overwhelmed. If the contributor though changes topic or does not give you value you can easily click that unsubscribe link but I do recommend that you at least give them a chance to prove themselves if they gave you something worthwhile.

Second as a contributor…

Make sure that you are monetizing the signup process because you will have the people that grab everything then quickly unsubscribe. It happens even if you are one that gives solid information in your email series.

Keep on topic with your gift and offer value to your new subscribers. Not much point in getting subscribers if you can’t build a relationship with them unless you just want ot brag about your numbers.

I prefer to build the relationship and build ongoing customers which ends up putting dollars in my pocket.

You can find more tips on getting the most out of being a contributor to giveaways at The Easy Giveaway Plan.

Final thoughts….

Giveaways are one of the ultimate win – win setups you can be involved in when used properly so take advantage of them in both ways but be smart about it.

Enough lecture for one day from me ;) – Have a great one.

New PLR Package and two ways to use it

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Sunday I wrote a post about some of the alphabet soup you see when starting out in the IM field and went on to try and describe the differences.

This morning Doug Champigny released another brand new PLR product on Unique Weddings with 10 articles, 2 graphic sets, 10 audios and a sales letter for the product. Like all of Doug’s PLR releases this is limited to just 100 copies.

Just to review PLR stands for Private Label Rights. This allows you to use it as your own subject to the license restriction. Below I have copied the license restriction so you can see the actual rights you get. In this case you can’t pass on PLR, you can’t claim copyright and you can’t use it as a giveaway of any type. Each license will have its own restrictions.

Non-Transferable PLR Rights To The E-Book:

[YES] Can put your name on as the author.

[YES] Can edit the contents.

[YES] Can sell for personal use only.

[YES] Can sell standard resell rights (SRR).

[YES] Can sell master resell rights (MRR).

[YES] Can be bundled into a paid package.

[YES] Can be added into a paid membership site.

[YES] Can be published on CD or DVD.

[NO] Can add to a free membership site in any format.

[NO] Can be sold in dimesales, auctions, variable-price sales.

[NO] Can be offered as a bonus.

[NO] Can be given away in ANY format.

[NO] Can pass along Private Label Rights in ANY format.

[NO] Can claim copyright.

Now Doug has also included 10 articles and 10 audios of the articles with their own license terms. Remember you always need to check the license when buying the various alphabet soup products as I call them. There are a full set of graphics and this package even includes a sales letter.

You can quickly turn this into your own product just by tweaking a few things in the book, tweaking the sales letter and adding your Paypal button. Then upload it to your website and send traffic.

Or you can do an all out assault on the niche if this is a topic you have an interest in. To take it up a notch below is a plan for those that would like to build a complete business around this topic.

  1. Go do some keyword research
  2. Go to Clickbank and see what else is selling, how much it sells for and what keywords they are using
  3. Grab an appropriate domain
  4. Set up a blog and lead capture system and use the articles as a start for blog content
  5. Set up an autoresponder with the best of what I found on Clickbank for products for the lead capture and use those in an email series
  6. See what sells so I know what people will pay for and in what form
  7. Redo the ebook into a format and at a price I have found sells
  8. Promote it through various means.

The first way you can make a quick profit but with a little bit more work (I know I keep using those 4 letter words here – Sorry) or the second one will allow you to build a whole business around this topic.

Either way grabbing the Unique Wedding PLR Pack can help you get started. Just don’t delay because these usually sell out in just a few days and Doug always keeps to his 100 limit.

Mass Control – Are you watching this?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

It has been an interesting morning already watching the offers that are coming in for bonus packages from various marketers. Now I am not promoting it but did recommend that you follow the process.

Now there has been a ton of great content put out by Frank Kern and if you have an existing business and can afford it this my be a good fit for you. Each person needs to decide for themselves.

Here are two of the takeaways I have gotten from the launch that can help you.

  • Biggest take away the finger report – Yes people are still spending money despite the news with their doom and gloom especially for high end items.
  • Creating desire for your offer is probably the most important thing you can do if people want it bad enough they will find the money. Add in trust and you will do well.

All too often I hear from people in the various conferences complaining about all the email and hype. Instead of complaining you should be using it as a learning experience.

Ask…

  • Why this specific bonus?
  • How does the bonus tie into the actual product?
  • What are they trying to accomplish with this email?
  • How did that headline make me open it?
  • Why do I feel the need to click through and see this?
  • What proof are they showing and why that one?

These types of questions can help you when you are creating your own offers and you should be using these launches to build your swipe file not complain about the hype.

Finally apply and use the intelligence to your marketing that you get from these types of promotions.

One final lesson and hats off to Wille Crawford. He is an affiliate but has a blog post on why he is not promoting Mass Control. The answer is simple he has been too busy to review it and even though people have asked for his link he tells them to use someone elses. Follow Willie on twitter – you can learn a lot from how he does things.

Well this is an interactive place so let me know if you have followed the launch process for Mass Control and what you have learned from this launch.
