Email deliverability test - Do you get the email you want?

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I just sent out an email to my list titled “Did you get this email?”

This is part of an experiment and I would love to have my readers participate too. I have copied the text from the email here because as a group we are trying to show what most of us know - Your isp is blocking email that you want to receive.

Hope you decide to participate.

I wanted to write today and ask — did you receive this email?

This might seem like a stupid question, until you realize how many
valuable emails are being tossed out by Internet and Email Service Providers
(ISPs and ESPs) that most people rely upon today.

The emails are being discarded in the name of “protecting” you from spam.
Unfortunately, most of the ISPs and ESPs involved aren’t checking your
whitelist before they pitch “suspicious” incoming messages. Others ignore the
fact that an email is a REPLY to a message from you and obviously something you
wanted to receive.

If it meets the broad criteria that ISPs and ESPs have determined indicates
that an email MIGHT be spam — out it goes. Without regard for the fact you
might have WANTED to receive it.

Don’t think for a minute it’s only happening to commercial email, either.
Today’s ISPs and ESPs are eager to throw away as much email as they can. They
have every reason to throw away as much email as they can justify — as long as
you’re under the delusion that they’re “protecting” you when they do.

Consider this:

Under most current spam filtering criteria, an email from your sister that says, “Please send money or Grandpa won’t be set free,” won’t be received by most of the family members she sent it to.

Poor Grandpa is most likely going to SIT in jail a LONG, LONG time.

No one likes spam. But this kind of “collateral damage” is inexcusable. Not all ISPs and ESPs are bad. Some are actually quite good. But — how reliable is the ISP or ESP YOU count on to deliver the email you want and expect to receive?

Here’s where you can go to participate in a MASSIVE online “experiment” that will prove, once and for all, which ISPs and ESPs are reliable — and which aren’t. You can pick up a valuable free report about the current state of email deliverability, written by an industry insider with more than 24 years of online publishing and marketing experience when you sign up. And there will be
gifts you can pick up during the experiment, just for participating.

http://www.goldbar.net/ua/link.php?affID=MikePaetzold_ad

The “experiment” is simple. The report is yours if you agree to participate. There is no cost or obligation beyond the simple requirements of participation in the experiment. Together, we can keep the email system working as it should — spam-free AND reliable.

Visit the link below, get all the details and sign up NOW:

http://www.goldbar.net/ua/link.php?affID=MikePaetzold_ad

Sincerely,

Mike Paetzold

P.S.: Please forward this email to everyone you care about. They need to know what’s happening, too — and they can get on board to help us change email and make it viable again.

Hope you too participate in this experiment.

I’m so excited….

No not for the song for those that remember it.

I am excited because of the opportunity I have.

Liz Tomey has become a good friend of mine over the last year.

One of the reasons I like Liz so much is she has the knack of taking any topic and making it simple.

No BS.

Simple step by step plans.

Always when I talk to Liz or hear her speak I get actionable information.

Do you know how rare that is?

The real reason I am excited is that you can share in that rarity.

Tomorrow night she will be talking about ….

The Big Red Fez - Seth Godin

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Yep the book delivery came in this week so the reviews are back. Once again it will be one of my favorite authors - Seth Godin.

The Big Red Fez: How To Make Any Web Site Better by Seth Godin. Have to say as always the imagery Seth uses in this book is phenomenal. After reading books from him where he talks about a purple cow I guess the picture of a monkey in a big red fez looking for the big banana shouldn’t surprise me.

This is a quick and easy read but..

As always the points are delivered home in the text and many images. Understanding some of the mistakes and the things that he shows that are done right really makes you look at how you create your sites. Most of the book refers to shopping cart type websites but the processes still apply and definitely will remain with me.

Never again will I put a site together without asking what is the big banana. Want to find out why?

Grab this and spend the hour to read it but have your paper and pen handy. You will find things to revise and like most books on this list the reading is the easy part. Reviewiing what I do and implementing the many things learned is always the hard part. This book created about 5 hours of changes and probably that will double as I go through each of my sites.

The Week In Review - March 8, 2008

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Been a busy week here in PA and there are a few things to review this week.

First some announcements - The Mike and Erik Show podcast will be moving to a new location with a similar but different format. It will be going to Amplification Marketing News. Erik no longer has the time so Steve Roye who has helped me with my free WordPress Calls will be my new podcasting partner.

Also I will be having a telesminar with Liz Tomey Tuesday at 9pm about Joint Ventures. You really don’t want to miss this as Liz will give you three actionable plans. It won’t be replayed (she has a very special reason for this) so make sure to mark your calendar now for Tuesday, March 11th at 9pm edt. Yep that is right the time changes here in the US tonight so it will be edt. More info as we get closer.

Launches This Week

Floating Action Button - From two friends, Soren Jordansen and John Merrick, this allows you to add anything to your blog or web page. You can see one following you down this page on your left. If you have a web site or blog of your own (and you should) you need this.

Phantom Link Cloaker - This is probably the most full featured link cloaker I have tried. It has features that others don’t have. If you don’t know why you should be using a link cloaker or what it can do for your commissions scroll down and read the article about it further down this blog.

Those are the two that I liked this week. Keith Wellman’s Million Dollar March got into my email a lot but I haven’t looked at it or can I recommend it because I haven’t reviewed it.

Blast From The Past

AWeber - This is one of the absolutely most valuable tools I have. They are in my opinion the absolute best autoresponder service around. My autoresponder is my business and for the price it can’t be beat.

You can integrate it with your blog rss feed, mail multiple lists and remove the dupes and much, much more. Add in their delivery rate and anyone with an online business needs this. It should be the very first purchase you make.

You really need three things to have an online business - autoresponder, web presence (web site or blog) and a method to track what you do. The big red button everybody is looking for is started when you have a list and a way to contact them automatically. AWeber does that as well as anyone.

A few items of interest and I’ll wrap this up. Later this week I will be having a free call to answer your questions about WordPress and blogging and don’t forget to mark your calendar for Tuesday at 9pm. You will be able to listen from the web. You will get three actionable plans free that you can apply if you take the time to attend (and take action on those plans.)

Have a great week.

Do you have a website or blog?

Friday, March 7th, 2008

If you don’t you should but there is nothing in this post for you so you can close this now.

Now if you are still reading I will assume (and I know that is dangerous) that you are serious about your web business.

One of the problems though that we all have is getting visitors to take the action we want when they visit our site.

If you have a site that is set up to sell a product you want to make it easy for visitors to buy.

If you use a blog you may be trying to gather subscribers, get people to comment and create interactivity.

You may want people to subscribe or watch a video on your blog or website.

All of these little things add money to your pocket.

You can easily improve all of these things with a new service called Floating Action Buttons.

Floating Action Buttons

I have been testing these for a while and here are some of my results.

For a recent launch I gave away 52 copies of a rebrandable PDF in 3 days.

On another blog I increased the questions asked by more than 10 times.

My friend Bob Jenkins sold over $500 of a product off of his blog in 2 weeks just from a floating action button.

These work quite well and you can do almost anything you can think of - EASILY.

That is the key part it took less than 5 minutes to do each of these things. No techy stuff to interfere.

Hey even a good friend of mine who is as non techy as they come was able to use this.

Floating Action Buttons

Best of all if you get it during the launch week it will only cost you $7. Worh a whole lot more and it will be going up in price after this week.

Improve your results easily.

Mike Paetzold

PS Check out the one time offer you will see after you purchase this. I did it is a great deal.

Need to grab your reader’s attention?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

Trying to get your reader to take the action you want them to just got easier.

You may have noticed the button on the left that is following you down the page. It tells you to click here if this caught your attention.

Now that seems simple enough but on a different blog where I want people to submit survey questions it increased the nimber of questions submitted.

I could have added an opt in form or if you have visted here in the past week or so there was an offer of a free ebook which worked quite well.

The really cool part is that I can create a new button in less than 5 minutes whenever I want to with whatever I want in the buttton.

Check out Floating Action Button

and watch the various ways that you can use this in the video on the page.

And remember that it only takes a few minutes to do this and the increase in your response will be enormous. It has for me.

Floating Action Button

But don’t delay that low price will only last for the launch week.

Joint Venture Seeker - Is it for you?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

This is a product that I personally feel is something that everyone no matter what niche you operat in should have. Period. Not often I say that either.

Joint Venture Seeker

Here is why -

Most people look at joint ventures that only can be used once you have a list and a product. You probably do too.

That is the part that most people miss. They look at the huge launches and say that is what a JV is and no one wants to deal with me because I don’t have the assets that would attract them.

Because of thoughts like that most people feel that anything that has to do with Joint ventures is not for them.

This could not be further from the truth and Liz Tomey is proof of that. She started online behind the eight ball with no contacts but used a joint venture to… - Create a product by using others

  • Use those same experts to help launch her product

  • Build a list from that launch

  • All while fighting off the repo man

Click here to read the whole story

Joint Venture Seeker

One of the reasons that I so strongly recommend this is that Liz is a natural born teacher. I attended a workshop she did where she walked people through using PLR products to create their own products and her ability to take complex ideas and make them extremely easy and understandable is second to none.

She does that with this product to show you everything you need to create a joint venture in any way that fits your current business and it doesn’t matter if you just started or have been spinning your wheels for a while.

Check it out today.

Joint Venture Seeker

You’ll be glad you did.

Some good things coming this week

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Last week saw the launch of two really good items and this week looks like it will be more of the same.

There is a launch tomorrow that anyone promoting affiliate products will want to look at closely.

One of the things that most people don’t realize is the effect of spyware on your affiliate earnings. Yes everybody talks about the people using their affiliate link when you promote any product that comes from the major networks like Clickbank and PayDotCom to name two. Yes, that costs you money but most of your loss can come from your customer’s computer having spyware on it that will change your link to the person who created the spyware’s link.

The redirection alone takes care of the first type but the vast majority of your losses comes inadvertently from the second type. This new product will help avoid that because of how it works and more importantly it is easy to install and easy to use. Look for more info tomorrow once it launches. It has already paid for itself for me as I have been beta testing it.

The other program launching this week that has me excited will show up on Thursday. You may have noticed the little slide down on this blog offereing a free ebook. This program will allow you to create those in 5 minutes or less. Real easy to use and even easier to install. This will be a great tool for any blogger. The results that I and other testers are getting are unbelievable. The price will make it a no brainer so look for more info on that come Thursday.

Finally if you haven’t looked at Liz Tomey’s Joint Venture Seeker do so this week as after the launch window the price will be doubling. It will still be a great value at the higher price but…

Why pay more?

At the very least download the book that is on the side floater (it is free - not even an email needed) and see how you can use JV’s in ways you may never have considered.

Have a great day.

Week In Review - March 1, 2008

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

One sixth of the year is already gone. Gee time really flies. Maybe it is just flying for old bald guys but it seems like New Years day just happened.

Seems that things change quickly all the time but….

Some things never really change. This week has highlighted that with three launches.

Two products address traffic. Without any visitors your website, no matter how well done is worthless. Sorry. Been there done that and have the t-shirt.

The other product this week is about leveraging others or that term that some people hate joint venture.

Two of them are at extremely low prices and one is a great value but probably not for the majority of my readers. First the two at low prices.

How can I get visitors to my website - Rob Toth has put together 4 hours of audios and checklists on different ways to get web traffic for just $3.99. This will go to a much higher price on Monday because people don’t believe there is any value at this price. If you haven’t checked it out because of the price you are making a huge mistake. Everyone that reads this should grab this at this price before Monday.

A quick aside here - this was an experiment that failed as Rob expected the limited quantity at this price to disappear in absolutely no time. The price has convinced people that it does not have value despite a solid sales letter and quality product. Remember this the next time you complain about some high price especially if you haven’t grabbed the most affordable product I have seen this year.

Joint Venture Seeker - Again a product that is underpriced and will be doubling after the launch period. This is an evergreen product and will be a prime candidate in the future for the blast from the past section.

First Liz Tomey is one of the best teachers I know. She has a real knack for making complex topics easy to understand and outlining them in a step by step format. She will also show you that joint ventures are not just for launches. At the very least you should check out the free items she has provided. They will give you some ideas. Check them out at

Free Joint Venture Resources

This one is not for everyone. You need a way to monetize traffic already set up and some time to really apply these. For the right person though this may be the best of the week.

Web Traffic Machines - Bishop Anders is one of those people you have never heard of unless you really search. He was at JV Alert in Orlando and I spent quite a bit of time with him. I even liked what he did so well that we had him on the podcast this week. He is a good old boy from the West Texas oil fields but…

He makes some killer software applications that can really help you ramp up your traffic.

Thats all that is new this week that I liked.

Blast From The Past

This section is to highlight products that are evergreen. With all the launch hype in the marketplace things come and go quite quickly but these are products that are sometimes overlooked in alll the new launches but worthwhile none the less.

Instant Article Wizard - This is something I use all the time for research on various niches. Easy to use and it allows me to create the basis for an article on any subject in just a few minutes. If you use article marketing or work in any niche (and you should be doing both) this is a must have. This will allow you to easily create content on just about any topic.

Well that is all for this week. Look for an announcement Thursday of how I have been adding the floating buttons on this and other blogs in just a couple minutes. They have been extremely effective and very easy.

Have a great weekend.
